Since the late-1700s, people of Asian origin have made important contributions to Canada’s history and identity. Each year, as part of its annual Asian Heritage Month campaign, the Government of Canada encourages all people in Canada to learn about how people of Asian origin have and continue to help shape Canada as we know it today. The mission of the India Canada Association of Waterloo Region is to preserve and promote the rich and diverse cultural heritage of India; “to foster collaboration among people of Indian origin and broader Canadian community”; to advocate and ensure effective representation of members in social, political and cultural life for the benefit of our community at large.
